The Goverment: Romanian
The Romanian Vampire Council conducts business through fear and intimidation. Of course all of the other councils did too, but this council is ruthless. Attacks leave victims with broken necks and missing jugulars. Since the Romanians view themselves as a superior race, converting is not an option. They simply feed to survive with violent and bloody aftermath leaving no chance of a human being becoming a vampire. Such an atrocity would taint the Romanian bloodline. Legends, myths, fables all gave origins of the Romanian Council dating back to one: Dracula, also thought to be Vlad the Impaler.
Vlad was a brutal bloody leader but ultimately misunderstood for his era. He was a man of strict morals with black and white boundaries. There were no gray areas. He accomplished great feats for his people and was celebrated as a hero. Of course Romanian Council leaders watched from the shadows. The Romanian ancestors fed in the night on the fresh blood of enemies impaled, staked out, serving as a warning to potential saboteurs and spies by Vlad. Those disloyal with malice to Vlad and his people would pay the ultimate brutal bloody price. Although his tactics were sound for his people and highly effective in deterring other potential saboteurs, the Romanian vampires found a way to capitalize. Their myth grew until only Dracula served as an entire sub-species' inception. Romanian humans cried out in protest for centuries. Dracula, son of Dracul, Draco, Order of the Dragon, the devil himself, falsely labeled founder and creator of vampires as Vlad the Impaler. Vlad’s false myth grew past fables to the big screens worldwide. Images of shadows with glistening blood against the moonlight gripped the entire world.
The first born of this hidden legend is actually Strigoi, the first ever recorded of his kind. A demonic spirit in Romanian culture that took the shape of an animal or some ghostly appearance. Strigoi was punished, trapped in the form of a human child who was cursed to walk on earth lusting in fear, sulking in the shadows. He was the first to feed on the carcasses left out by Vlad. Strigoi causes problems for all those who he encounters. A master of deception and manipulation for personal gains, he learned to survive inculpating victims providing unobtainable forbidden meals. The more victims that Vlad claimed in his brutal bloody tactics, the better Strigoi would feast.
His objective was focused on existing in the dark, draining the vitality of his victims directly from their veins. Lonely, Strigoi created the Romanian Council primarily out of destitute. These pursuivants are the purebloods as they originate from a bite of Strigoi himself. The fable of Dracula had to continue to protect the anonymity of Strigoi from religious groups. He learned that controlling human beings meant a psychological game of fraile inferiority on cognitive dissonance in an evil eternal game of brilliance.
Unless the Romanian Council has deemed a person worthy of pure conversion, probably not the best idea to entangle yourself with this council.

Blame whomever you want. We all stood by, watched, and celebrated. Hell, we came up with the idea in the first place. Give it a name however you choose. The wrong leader, the wrong votes, democracy, tyranny, corruption, or just a simple sense of complete ignorance for evil to prevail. Leaders and followers, up for sale to the highest bidder in the name of growth for peace. The capital drives for an ever out of reach goal to show a social stature; to be above everyone else. We all decided to live and let live was the best policy. Now look where we are. This simple idea was our complete downfall; a final resolution to the vampire human conflict. The vampire population, and their followers, were offered a peace treaty of truce. The age-old adage to ‘coexist’ was the basis for this treaty, and ultimately, our timely undoing where evil would prevail.
How it began
Killing Shadows 1
The vampire population, and their followers, were offered a peace treaty of truce as a recognized nation of the world. The age-old adage to 'coexist' was the basis for this treaty. Now one man is left to choose. He had been to the island long before as a soldier, but this time he was taken captive. His wife, hidden, safe from a vampire raid in his small village. A pregnant woman kidnapped from just down the way from his home. Betrayers and manipulators surround him. He soon discovers that there are grander plans in the works. Plans that no one could have foreseen.
Blinding Light 2
The world changed overnight after the vampires established their way of life as a religion. Cruise liners anchored just off every major shoreline worldwide to transport eager converts to the island with a promise of immortality.
Tomas and Iriria are busy getting ready for their high school graduation. The family has all come together to celebrate the twins’ accomplishments when their lives are forever shattered. The men had long thought that they had successfully evaded the vampire's icy clutch on the twins. They soon find out that the vampires have been lying in wait, like a cobra in the tall grass biding its time before a deadly strike. The family must reveal hidden truths over eighteen years old to both Tomas and Iriria. The family bonds are tested, their preparations initiated, but there is a traitor among them. Something has gone amiss. Tomas is left vulnerable as Iriria gains strength.
The family must prepare the twins for their next phase in life, away from home. They scramble to decipher the clues that Ignacio left years ago. Now there is a new element that may provide the answers that the men have been overlooking, but it will come at a cost that none of them could have ever prepared for.

Return to Darkness 3
The vampires have positioned themselves brilliantly to further their claims in the name of diplomacy. No one knows whom to trust or which way to turn. As new love flourishes in the light, other loves are dwindling into darkness, even taking innocent victims with them.
As the Tawantinsuyo Council fights for its position amongst the nations to further its profits and agenda, foundations are cracked beyond repair in the most literal of ways. Families are left scattered across the northern hemisphere unable to regain a sense of purpose to the madness they are all enduring. As the Council's true intent becomes more and more clear, Iriria's path is irrefutably defined with crosshairs fixed on one target. Her only dilemma is allowing people that she loves and cares about to follow her down her clear-cut path. She knows that only death and heartache will follow. If not for her, then for those that she loves.
As Tomas faces moral traumas conflicting with his thriving business and his marriage, his time appears to be running out as the heir to a multi-billion dollar company. Tomas is forced to make a life or death decision at the threat of prosecution. There is no one left that he can trust or call on for advice. That is except for Avimelech and the Tawantinsuyo Council.
Lies and secrets thicken as homes are destroyed, forcing relocation. What will the family do? How will they get through all of this?

The Military: Mania Hecate
An entire vampire council consisting of only women. These warrior women of the night are direct descendants of Mania, mother of ghosts, undead, and other spirits of shadows and darkness. They control the shadows of the night with extremely skilled precision. Their tactics are so concise that military elite special forces tactical units are modeled after them. The Mania Hecate poses the rare ability to manipulate minds ultimately leading to severe mental illness. Council women are immune to all forms of mental illness. They only bestow gifts of immunity to high ranking warriors. Skilled experts in hand to hand combat with knives and in archery, these women took the role of defenders on the island, a military. A balance between survival, defense, and maintaining order while at crossroads with human beings. Mania Hecate vampires are disciplined beyond military standards with short tempers, hair trigger fingers, and the capability to manipulate the mind, inducing powerful eternal hallucinations. The only known cure for Hecate Hallucination is Mania Mending. Vampires of this council rarely perform Mania Mending. The procedure is purely through touch. A Mania Hecate vampire could send a man over the edge with just a single touch. The trait also allows them to control animals.
The Mania Hecate Council favors the Cane Corso. Cane Corsos are gorgeous muscular black dogs believed to descend from the extinct Greek Molossus canine. Some weigh in at one hundred and ten pounds. Mania Hecate control these massive dark beings with a single touch. Canes always lead the charge in battle for the council, similar to police K9 units. The exception is fair and ample warning of violent attacks on their victims. Where K9 Police units would call out “Come out with your hands up or I will release the dog. You will get bit”, Mania Hecate offer no such warning.
Males associated with the Council of Mania Hecate are only permitted to carry out necessary time consuming tasks, errand boys. Even so, men leap at the opportunity to serve a council of deadly seductresses. No male has ever served on the council and never will. The best hope of climbing ranks for a male is to become a cabana boy for one specific Mania Hecate council member. Members are entitled to one male attendee per every two cane corsos owned to avoid temptations and distractions. Men’s primary role is to care for the canes and complete any bidding his warrior tasks him with.
The vampire warriors wear personalized armor made from intricately woven Damascus steel adorned with black onyx and smoky quartz, on one side of the ship. Commemorative knives and swords forged out of titanium and platinum with gems embedded into the hilts, line the walls of their massive stronghold.
Unless a person is a battle-ready female, you probably have a better chance of going clinically insane than converting to the Mania Hecate Council.
The Architects: Supay
The Supay are a council composed of some of the best architects that have ever graced the earthly shadows, dating back to the Incan Underworld, Ukhu Pacha, as the God of Death himself. The ruler of the Underworld. Supay created a complete race of demons to carry out his bidding. From skyscrapers in New York to architectural wonders of the world in Dubai, Supay vampires have had their hands in just about every major tower or construction company. It shouldn’t come as a surprise that they are in charge of construction on the island. Afterall, they wrote a majority foundation of all construction and mining protocols throughout the known world. Of course they save their best architectural wonders for themselves, although no one can ever really say that they have seen the inside of any of the buildings. Rampant speculation of their marvels are left up to the flights of fancy.
Supay Vampires have their circles deeply connected to mining unions all over the world. The council members are well above average in their lucrative monetary tactics. Clear-eyed and highly educated, the council makes it a point to own as much of their kryptonite as possible. What better way to ensure that their council will survive financially while controlling who will be able to purchase a majority of their entire species’ vice.
The Supay Vampires are the only vampire council that are openly worshiped in Peru to this very day. One of the main occupations in Peru is mining. Legends tell that the Supay originated from the depths of the earth where only the wicked were sent, to the deepest parts below ground. The demons created were not only to do his bidding, but they also protected all of the riches below the surface of the Earth. Miners believe that these demons come in the forms of cave-insbuild-ups, natural gas pockets, underwater springs, methane build ups, or extreme temperature changes. Afterall, only miners that are technically advanced experts dare dig down to the depths of hell.
The Supay never deviated from a plan. Double-crossing a Supay vampire defines your ending. Even amongst their own ranks. Open to men and women for conversion who have forward-thinking ideas about advancing their own race and the future of the Tawantinsuyo Nation. Working your way to the top might take a long while if you decide to convert to this council.
The Blue Collar: Harborym
Harborym Vampires are the bloodline of blue collar workers on Tawantinsuyo. Their entire history is shrouded with mystery. These vampires hail from an ancient word literally translated as a Hebrew satan, ‘sawtawn’. By nature in definition, the council’s primary role is to oppose and argue different opinions. They always obstruct and oppose any new ideas for vampires.
The only history known is that the first vampire born of this council, Aym, was a fire demon. Aym was a ranked Duke of Hell. He was the twenty third of seventy two elite demons, and commanded twenty six legions. As a demon, Aym required no logical reason to attack. A feeling, a need, or urge to oppose was enough. The council upholds the traditions of opposition and are known today as the accuser. They are quick to point a finger with brutal swiftness in silencing anyone who dares contravene the council. Their role on the island was not made evident when Tawantinsuyo was founded. No specialized equipment nor extravagant furnishings for their homes. Harborym vampires dress commonly by comparison to their neighboring councils. They cannot be distinguished from another human being walking down the street. The Harborym Council of vampires are the blue collar commoners amongst the lavish.
Caring for the livestock, tending to the routine and ‘trivial’ tasks, and imports/exports are amongst some of the tasks that Harborym Vampires tend to on the daily basis. Open to both men and women for conversion, just living common everyday lives.

The world changed overnight. Family bonds are put to the test as the vampires come out of the shadows and take the main stage for the world to see. What could possibly go wrong?
Despereauleax
The brand of every convert that arrives on Tawantinsuyo. The brand is the first mark as a test of a successful conversion. The wound should heal within a matter of hours. If the brand does not begin to heal, the convert is left for dead, feed for the Romanian Council.
These are the converts of the Tawantinsuyo Island. A convert can opt for a synthetic conversion or a natural conversion. Some Despereauleax have characteristics that are desirable to particular councils on Island. Those Converts are selected by a council and fight for a position in their corresponding council.
Then there are those who do not possess any attributes worth mentioning. Those converts enter into the Arena unaffiliated. If the convert survives ten rounds in the arena, they are given their own personal island and recognized as another council of Tawantinsuyo.
There has never been a convert that has successfully won ten battles in the Arena. The reward is enough for converts to continue fighting for an eternal home of their own. The Arena holds more mysteries than just conversion. Find out what else is going on on the Northernmost Island of Tawantinsuyo in the Finale, Eternal Eclipse.

SF McDonell
The Author
SF McDonell is a country girl from Montana. Anything and everything outdoors that resulted in a bonfire at the end of a dirt road under a clear twinkling night sky sums up her early years. She was almost always outside from camping, hiking, fishing, boating, ATVs, mudding, horseback riding, building tree forts, biking, and hunting. Her teens were filled with volleyball, baseball, track, cheer, dance, playing the French Horn in the school band, rallies, and ASB. At one point she even tried out for the school football team. (A story for another time.) She attended college to pursue a career in criminal justice but transferred studies to psychology and pre-law. After a few life-changing medical diagnoses, she reignited her passion for writing.
Hence, Blood Arena: The Series, was born.
